The Story
A hostile fleet has come out of deep space and seized the route from Earth to Mars. Its war machines hold the skies over the ocean, the orbital lanes and the Moon, and at its head waits Ares, a colossal command dreadnought anchored over the Martian surface.
Earth answers with the Skyfire Protocol: one pilot and one experimental Striker Frame from Bay 07, a machine that switches in an instant between a fast assault jet and a heavily armed walker. Fight your way out from Earth, past the Moon and through the asteroid belt to Mars. From every enemy commander you bring down, you reverse-engineer a new weapon system for your frame, and you will need all of them when you finally face Ares.
How to Play
Fly your Striker Frame from left to right through the orbital warzone. Your guns fire automatically, so focus on moving, dodging enemy fire and lining up your shots. Each stage ends with a boss.
- Phone / tablet: the game fits itself to your screen when you start (best held sideways). Steer with the joystick on the left and tap the round FORM button on the right to transform. Tap II to pause or ✕ to see the whole page again.
- Computer: move with W A S D or the arrow keys, or with the mouse. Press X to transform, P to pause.
- Sound: the ♪, FX and VO buttons under the game switch the music, sound effects and voice on or off (M toggles the music). Your choice is remembered.
- Assault Form is a fast jet that reaches the boss sooner. Striker Form is a slower, bigger walker with heavier shots. Every weapon works differently in each form.
- Your frame can take 3 hits before you lose a life, and you have 3 lives. Armor is fully repaired at the start of every stage.
Stages and weapons
- There are 11 stages. Stages 1 to 10 each end with a boss, and beating it gives you a new weapon system: submachine gun, missiles, laser, shield, needle drones, energy wave, bombs, lightning, reactive armor and a particle accelerator.
- New weapons stay equipped for the rest of the run, so your frame gets stronger every stage.
- Each new stage brings a new kind of enemy. The stop screen between stages shows what's coming.
- Shot down? Retry the same stage with the weapons you had. After two failed tries on the same stage, the Repair Shop opens: spend the salvage from your wrecks to refit your weapons. Every refit raises the price of the next one, so choose carefully.
Tips
- Switch forms often. Use Assault Form to cross a stage quickly and Striker Form when the screen fills with bullets.
- Watch for warning lines and glows. Many enemies flash a warning just before they fire, so move out of the way.
- Keep moving. Standing still is the easiest way to get hit.
